At 15, Gareth Lim Just Medaled in Three Different Events in One Weekend
Andrew LeeThree categories. Three podiums. One 15-year-old.
Gareth Lim of Team PPC closed out the PPA Asia 125 Malaysia Tomaz Cup with gold in U18 Junior Singles Open Gender, silver in 19+ Men's Doubles (DUPR <3.799) alongside partner Guo Jing, and bronze in 19+ Mixed Doubles (DUPR <3.799) alongside partner Ryozosia. Three different categories, three different partners, one name on every podium.
The singles title came first, a clean run through the Open Gender bracket in an age division where he's still one of the younger names in the field. Two days later, Lim was back on court twice more, teaming with Guo Jing for silver in Men's Doubles and with Ryozosia for bronze in Mixed Doubles, both in the sub-3.799 DUPR band.
A Roster That Keeps Producing
Team PPC runs its own tournament squad under sponsorship from OBS Pickleball, with a roster of partners spanning Dink Avenue, Pickleholic Arena, and Kazza among others. Lim's triple podium adds to a run of results the club has posted across multiple tournaments this season, doubles and mixed doubles finishes alongside singles titles, a sign the squad's depth extends past any one player.
At 15, Lim is still competing up through the same open brackets as adults twice his age, not a separate junior-only ladder. Three podiums in one weekend, across three different partnerships, is the kind of result that suggests his ceiling in the sport is still a long way off.
