Andrew Lee

The Gearbox Pressure X 8M and 8E elongated paddles are retailing at RM1,150 each at MyPickleball, which sells them online and at its Super Store in Strand Mall, Kota Damansara, and at 91 Pickleball in USJ 1 Giant.

MyPickleball also has demo paddles to try at its full-sized testing court in Strand Mall. Pickle Addicts has also put the pair on its website, with the code "ADDICTS" for additional savings.

Gearbox's graphics list both paddles as Elongated+ 16mm at 8.0 oz. The 8E has a measured dwell of 3.13 ms and is described as extended dwell, connected feel and controlled power. The 8M measures 2.46 ms and is described as quicker release, direct feel and explosive power.

MyPickleball's post says Pressure X was developed under the direction of Gearbox founder and chief engineer Rafael Filippini. It names three focus areas: carbon-first construction, tuned foam technology and a SpinLock surface. In its words, the 8M gives a faster release, direct feedback and explosive power, while the 8E gives more compression, longer dwell and a connected feel for shaping shots.

Inside the core

On Gearbox Pickleball's own account, Filippini explains in a video how carbon fiber and structural foams work together in the Pressure X core, how the front and back faces are engineered to respond as one structure, and why distributing load across more of the paddle face matters. He also covers how core construction can influence energy return, durability and sweet-spot performance. The video is part of Beyond the Specs, a short-form series from 3AM by Gearbox on the engineering decisions behind paddle performance.
