From Afraid of Heights to Guinness World Record

It all started with a laugh. During the media roundtable at Stadium Juara, Andre Agassi admitted he was afraid of heights. Hours later, he stepped onto a court suspended at Level 118 of Merdeka 118, 502.833 metres above ground, to headline the highest pickleball match ever played in a building, officially recognised by Guinness World Records™.

What could have been a nervous moment turned into an unforgettable spectacle for the JOOLA Titans Tour 2026 in Kuala Lumpur.

Breaking the 500 Metre Barrier

JOOLA challenged the 500 metre benchmark and then exceeded it. The historic match blended intensity, showmanship, and elite competition, setting a new global standard for the sport.

Set against the Kuala Lumpur skyline, Team Agassi faced Team Ben Johns in a specially curated showcase that featured fast paced men’s, women’s, and mixed doubles. Global stars like Collin Johns, Anna Bright, Tyson McGuffin, Federico Staksrud, Brooke Buckner, Kate Fahey, and Len Yang shared the court with top Asia Pacific talents like Ken Tam, Andie Dikosavljevic, Aiko Yoshitomi, and Kenta Miyoshi.

Mic’d Up and Unfiltered

The players were mic’d up throughout, giving fans an unprecedented behind the scenes view of their personalities. From playful banter to in game strategy, the commentary made every rally feel personal and immersive.

Fans didn’t just watch world class pickleball they heard it. The live reactions, rivalries, and humor created an atmosphere that felt intimate despite the scale of the event.

When Legends Collide: Multi Sport Matchups

The Kuala Lumpur stop also brought in sporting icons from across disciplines. One of the most celebrated moments saw Malaysia’s squash legend Nicol Ann David and hockey Olympian Mirnawan Nawawi step onto the court.

In a mixed doubles crossover, Nicol David paired with Ben Johns to face Anna Bright and Mirnawan, blending squash, hockey, and pickleball into a spectacle that delighted the crowd. Their presence drew some of the loudest cheers of the evening, celebrating Malaysian sporting heritage alongside pickleball’s global rise.

Other highlights included Celebrities & Pros matches, interactive fan challenges, and “hit for a prize” segments, bringing fans closer to the sport than ever before. Agassi even joined Brooke Buckner for a fan challenge, turning star power into playful engagement.

The Dramatic Dreambreaker Finale

The two day Kuala Lumpur stop culminated in the Dreambreaker finale, a fast paced rotation to 18 points that kept energy levels sky high until the very last rally. The finale perfectly combined intensity, unpredictability, and entertainment, giving fans a thrilling end to a record setting showcase.

As night fell, the Kuala Lumpur skyline lit up with synchronized drones, pyrotechnics, and light displays, transforming Merdeka 118 into a beacon celebrating both the sport and the city.

Strategic Impact for Malaysia

Held in collaboration with Tourism Malaysia in support of Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026), the event positioned Malaysia as a destination capable of hosting world class sporting and lifestyle experiences. It demonstrated the country’s infrastructure, cultural vibrancy, and readiness to host globally significant events.

The event also delivered meaningful community impact. Players engaged with local communities across Klang Valley through coaching sessions, meet and greets, and grassroots activations, reinforcing JOOLA’s commitment to growing pickleball from the ground up.

Looking Ahead: Asia’s Pickleball Future

“The response in Kuala Lumpur has been extraordinary,” said Tom Nguyen. “From the historic moment at Merdeka 118 to the energy at Stadium Juara, this stop reflects not just the growth of pickleball in Malaysia, but its potential as a major sporting and cultural platform across Asia.”

Following Kuala Lumpur, the JOOLA Titans Tour continues to Beijing, further shaping the sport’s future across the region.
