The trophy presentation ran long at 91 Pickleball Clubhouse in Subang Jaya, and for good reason. The 19+ Mixed Doubles Open final at WPC Malaysia 2026 needed all three sets to settle, and it was Mayur Patil and Jasmine Almaguer who came out on top, beating Vanshik Kapadia and Vrushali Thakare 21-16, 17-21, 21-19.

Patil, from India, and Almaguer, from the USA, dropped the second set after taking the first comfortably, then closed out the decider by two points in a match both source posts describe as back-and-forth from start to finish. It was the last final of the tournament's closing day, held at 91 Pickleball Clubhouse's Subang Jaya venue as part of the wider WPC Malaysia 2026 event, which ran 27-30 Aug across Open, Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced categories.

A Genuinely Different Draw

Kapadia and Patil have shared a court together elsewhere on the WPC Malaysia calendar this year, but not here. In the Mixed Doubles Open, they were on opposite sides of the net, Patil partnering Almaguer, Kapadia partnering fellow Indian player Vrushali Thakare. It is worth keeping the two results straight: this was the mixed doubles final specifically, decided between these four players, not the same pairing that has appeared in Pickle361's coverage of the men's doubles draw.

The win adds to a strong run for Patil in India colours this year, including a gold medal for AIPA Team India earlier in the season. For Almaguer, it is a title on a Malaysian court as part of an international mixed pairing, the kind of cross-border partnership doubles draws are built around.

What's Next
