Six Medals, One Brand: Arronax's Big Week at Penang APP Open
Andrew LeeThe Pickle By The Sea courts on Gurney Drive hosted over 1,200 players across the APP Asia Tour's Leapmotor APP Asia Penang Open 2026, from 22 to 26 Jul. By the time the brackets closed, one Malaysian paddle brand had a result worth totalling up.
Arronax Malaysia counted six medals across six different sponsored athletes, spanning singles, doubles and mixed doubles, and across skill divisions from 3.999 to 5.0. Three of those results were outright titles.
Six Results, One Roster
Dickson Ng won the Men's Doubles 19+ 4.999 Below title, playing on the brand's KVL005 model. Wang Yue, competing as @rui.zi204, took the Women's Singles 4.49 Below 19+ crown. Chin Long completed the trio of golds, winning Mixed Doubles 19+ 3.999 Below.
Two more finished as runners up. Huang Yi took Silver in Men's Doubles 19+ 4.99 Below, and Lagger Chan secured Silver in Mixed Doubles 19+, DUPR 4.999 and below.
The sixth result came from outside the brand's own posting. Dylan Ooi, who also carries Fila Malaysia as a sponsor, won the Singles 5.0 category and took Silver in Men's Doubles 4.5, then reached the quarterfinals in his first ever Men's Singles Pro appearance.
A Paddle Backed By Wins
Three of the six results came off the KVL005, the four layer Toray T800 carbon fibre paddle Arronax launched in Kuala Lumpur with over 20 signed players in the room. Penang was the kind of result that launch was meant to set up: real match wins, not just a product demo.
Building a Deeper Bench
The roster depth on show at Penang did not happen in isolation. Arronax also backs the PickleStar Cup as its paddle and ball sponsor, and its athlete list already includes Jack Wong, who reached PPA World No. 10 earlier this year, and Choong Kai Le, a recent APP Mixed Doubles gold medallist.
Dickson Ng's week carried an extra layer. He signed with 002 Pickleball Club & Academy on 22 Jul, the same tournament week, and was standing on top of the podium three days later on 25 Jul.
What This Means
A single title is a good week. Six results across six athletes and three disciplines is something closer to a system working as designed. For a Malaysian paddle brand still building its name against established international labels, a tournament like Penang is where the sponsorship math either shows up or it does not.
This time, it showed up six times over.
