Yufei Long in action at the Skechers Shenzhen Open, upset by Yu-Chieh Hsieh in the Round of 16

Two Seeds Fall in the Same Round at the Skechers Shenzhen Open

Two seeded favorites fell in the same Round of 16 at the PPA Asia 500 Skechers Shenzhen Open. Yu-Chieh Hsieh beat No. 3 seed Yufei Long in Pro Women's Singles, 11-4, 5-11, 11-8, and Luc Pham shocked No. 1 seed Roscoe Bellamy in Pro Men's Singles, 11-7, 11-6, both matches completed the same day.

Bellamy's loss is the bigger result on paper, a straight-games exit for the tournament's own top seed. Hsieh's win came the harder way, dropping the middle game before closing it out 11-8 in the decider.

A Round That Reshaped the Bracket

Losing a No. 1 and a No. 3 seed in the same round is a real bracket disruption, not routine tour attrition. PPA Tour Asia's own coverage of the event moved straight from these results into setting the final four, the two upsets clearing space in the draw rather than just adding to a highlight reel.

Pham, a 22-year-old who turned pro in 2025, also serves as head coach at Sypik, the Vietnam-headquartered paddle brand with a strong Malaysia/Singapore retail presence, giving this particular upset a real thread back into the region Pickle361 tracks most closely.
